Free Palestine (entry 5)

     The Palestinian struggle never stops...

Unfortunately, on May 6, 2021, the deportation of the Palestinian family of Sheikh Jarrah near East Jerusalem increased tensions between the Palestinians and the Israeli government. The Palestinians were driven out of their own homes (that probably date older than Israel) so that the Israeli government could maintain the majority of the Israeli Jewish population. It is mind-blowing to even think about how Palestine is supposed to be the Palestinians home but for the sake of both sides, even after fighting and opposing it, the powerless Arabs had no other choice than to observe Palestine slowly turning into Israel. In addition to this mockery, in October 2020, the Israeli government ruled to expel more than a dozen Palestinian families from Sheikh Jarrah, their own city, in order to maintain a “population balance” of 30 to 70 people, trying to limit Palestinians to 30% of the total population as stated by Rashid.

Words can not explain the pain that I feel every single day knowing that more and more Arabs like me, are either getting kicked out of their own county or immigrated to safer countries mainly because of the threat that the Israeli government represents in our life!

What history recorded ever since 1882, the beginning of the first major immigration, is an organized systematical attempt to push the natives (Palestinians) out. As part of this generation G, each one of us has the opportunity to offer help and solidarity whether it is by raising awareness about what is going on in Palestine, to even governmental and political decisions and actions. The Palestinians are the indigenous of their own lands and do not deserve to have their homes, family, and even freedom is taken away!

Palestine will be Free.
Justice will be served.

Bahaddin Muhammad

"I never forget the suffering, it is buried in my memory. When I hear some loud voice, I remember the shooting and the scene of the shooting in my house. Always at night, I feel like soldiers will come and take me again."

This traumatizing sentence was said by Bahaddin Muhammad, the 16 years old teenager who lives in West bank and works in construction. You see, Bahaddin is not just like any teenager, in fact, when he was only 14 years old, he was falsely accused of setting fire to a border fence by the Israeli soldiers who then stormed his house at 5 in the morning. The worst part is that his brother was shot and killed right ahead by the Israeli Soldiers who did not suffer any consequences how so ever because life is not fair and they have most of the power.  This completely shattered Muhammad who found difficulties sleeping suffered from depression, anxiety, trauma...This is not uncommon for a Palestinian teenager to feel seeing how the power in Palestine is under the oppressor, also known as Israel.

To call what is happening in Palestine, a settler-colonial project does not mean denying the legitimacy of Judaism or Jewish people! So for that, I repeat, Free Free Palestine! Free Free Palestine!
